| Making Drying go faster! | ||
| One thing I do to make the
grooming go faster is to bathe one, put it in a cage under a fan, REGARDLESS
of breed, and bathe another, repeating until I have four or five dogs
bathed. If it is a heavier coated dog, a drop coat in coat or a smooth
coated dog I turn on a fan. If it is a poodle or similar type coat or a
Schnauzer, then I simply let the dog sit in a cage on a towel. At that point
I take the first dog out of the cage dryer and force dry it, until it is
most of the way dry, comb out ears, head and tail and place back in the cage
dryer under a fan to finish drying. I use the stand dryer at the same time I
am force drying to remove moisture faster and help "set fluffs". By the time I get to the end of the
bathed dogs, the first one is totally dry and ready to finish. I move it to
the front and begin the process over again. The cage dryers HELP me
get the dog dry faster but I still get fluff dried finishes because that is
how I FINISH the dog.
By utilizing wire cages and fans we are able to dry multiple dogs in a minimal space. We use the Sahara Turbo dryer at the end of a cage bank and have fans on to to add more airflow. By creating a "circular" airflow we are more efficiently moving air past dogs and creating a better environment for drying to take place. Care must be taken when using box fans to remove hair daily to prevent the motors from becoming clogged and burning out. I use a piece of fiberglass screening cut to size and placed inside the frame of the fan to make it easier to clean. It traps the hair before it can get to the motor or blades and makes cleanup a breeze. Simply vacuum it off an you are done!
